I have a question concerning something that has had me confused for quite a while now. I watched Katrina intensify, I watched Rita intensify, and to all intents and purposes they hit 175mph then stopped. The same has happened to Wilma, so my question is, why? Can't hurricanes go any faster than this? What's to stop them reaching 200mph+? I have a theory but that's all it is - the surface friction becomes too high for any further increase in speed. Any good answers anyone? |
