We just got a new vort fix. Extrapolated, pressure is now down around 1002 mb, with max. flight-level winds at 53 knots. Considering the less-than ideal environment Five is currently in, this does not bode well should it find itself in something closer to an ideal environment at any time between now and the nearly certain northwestern GOM landfall this week. Given the fairly rapid deepening this afternoon, and somewhat improved convective organization, higher percentages of these much stronger flight level winds may begin transporting down to the surface at any time. |
