Audrey was indeed in 1957 ( the year that I graduated from High School - does that make you feel young?

) - but if the Weather Channel did indeed report that, they were wrong. Alex was the strongest June Hurricane since Hurricane Alma (110 knots - Cat III) in 1966. I'll put up a Met Blog that more fully answers the question.
