well, using pre-named systems in the scheme is an interesting twist.. but it doesn't really hold up against scrutiny. the further back you go in the hurricane historic record, the less reliable it becomes.. prior to the satelite/recon era i'd pretty much discount the placement on the name list of storms, as the intensity is not very reliable in many cases and it is likely that numerous smaller systems that would be named today were never observed.
