info on diamondhead, ms

I have been searching for any information on Diamondhead, MS. My family from Slidell decided to weather the storm in my mawmaws house and she is less than 2 blocks from the Jordan. Does anyone have ANY info in relation to this community? My family members are Mildred Mccall Holland, Petra Mccall, Maurice Mccall, Moe Mccall, Clint Mccall, Shane Mccall, Bianca Mccall, Diana and Bobby Relan, and several aunts and uncles with the last name Dusang.

thankyou for your information. I have searched so many sites and found a article calling diamondhead ground zero. I am from slidell myself and I am truly amazed and my heart goes out to everyone and their families. Still no news on anyone in my family as of today

Re: info on diamondhead, ms

There is a fellow that did some helicopter trips over the gulf coast...he concentrated mostly on Harrison County (and the damn casinos), but he got as far east as just a glipse of Ocean Springs, and on one of the trips he got as far west as BSL and did have footage of Diamondhead.

These are online, I forget where exactly. Try the Sun Herald online. There are three trips that I know of. They aren't labeled that well. Each is about 20 minute long. They show the footage of the devastated coastline.

Re: info on diamondhead, ms

I have heard that parts of Diamondhead took in a 20 foot surge. Probably the western portion near the Jourdan River. The Bay St Louis bridge is severly damaged, but the railroad bridge is intact. So I would imagine that a pretty good surge went into the Bay of St Louis.
Casino Magic, was basically knocked off it's barge at it's mooring. Most of the building south of the railroad along Hancock, Harrison and the Western Portion of Jackson County took the storm surge.
I'll try to find a link for that. Margie has great info above. The video is very clear...but they change headings and direction frequently.

I can't find much on Ocean Springs, MS and have a co-worker that lives there. I haven't heard from her since Saturday before the hurricane. If anyone knows has info for that area, or has a link, please post.

Thanks and prayers to all of us.
