Luzon in bullseye again - Cat. 4 Typhoon Chebi

The trend for tropical cyclones to explosively deepen just east of the Philippines continues as Chebi, a tropical storm most of yesterday, is now a 125 kt. category 4 typhoon. It is moving rather quickly to the west and will hit central Luzon late this afternoon or early this evening. It should hit a little farther south than Cimaron hit a couple weeks ago, probably Aurora province. Looks like Chebi will pass about 100 miles north of Manila - probably close enough to feel some low end tropical storm force winds and heavy rain. By the way, in the Philippines this storm is known as typhoon "Queenie" (yes, really).
