Area of Concern - Tropical Storm Hermine: UPDATED 9/7 For Texas Flooding

Hermine located well south of Brownsville, Texas, and expected to move toward the Mexico/Texas border. The system could become a strong tropical storm before landfall and heavy rainfall and associated flooding in the landfall area and north into southern Texas is a significant concern.

As of 11:45pm CDT, Tropical Depression Hermine is creating a potentially devastating flooding situation in central Texas along and either side of the Interstate 35. A feeder band which began setting up maybe six hours or so ago continues triggering redevelopment of very heavy to torrential showers and thunderstorms training over the same counties, hour after hour.
Rainfall estimates along and either side of I35 in central Texas, including the capital city of Austin, are now approaching double digits, with some doppler estimates of 10" or more in the city of Austin. If this training continues for much longer, significant. potentially historic life-threatening flooding could readily ensue.

As of about 12:15 am CDT, widespread rainfall estimates up and down along either side of I35 in and around Austin (confirmed by area rain gauges) of over 10" and up to over 12", and still climbing.

The major Interstate, I35, is now shut down in several locations in Williamson county (flooded out). Storm rainfall totals in the Austin metro are now up to over 15" in several places, within a phenomenal swath 20+ miles wide & 200+ miles long of 5+ inches, centered along and either side of I35 from southwest of San Antonio to up around Waco.
