Why bother adding Cats >5

MikeC replies “I think extending the Scale is pointless and just confuses folks.”

I agree with Mike, but will also ask why? Global warming is cyclical...much warmer in the 1930’s than today. Dorian actually is not an anomaly....just different and unexpected in the area. We’ve had many Cat 5 storms through the decades. Besides once a storm reaches Cat 5 it’s all relative.

Re: Why bother adding Cats >5

There is nothing cyclical in the universe, only reactions to actions, resonances from those actions and so on.
Once a state changes it will never go back to the same state again, it will have changed forever, actions can be taken to try reverse the change and restore to the previous state, but it won't be the same state as it is a new state changed forever.
