Five Day Forecast
      #6260 - Tue Mar 11 2003 04:36 PM

The new policy of issuing five day forecast should go far in creating more interest in the coming season. With a cone covering an area from Havana to Savanna a lot more are going to feel a personal stake in what is happening down there.
More people will find themselves within the areas covered by the forecast “cone” and begin to pay attention earlier to what is happening. Many of these people will not have the understanding of the weather that more trained and experienced observers do and will probably be confused by the changes each evening when they want to catch up on what the weather is going to do.
As for the others, those who watch everything tropical and post on boards like this one, and let’s not forget the local television WX guys; this should really help to stir things up. Being, “In the Cone” should encourage a proliferation of postings and media hype.
It will provide a measure of validation to anyone who wants to share his or her thoughts and hype. The wishcasters and Media hype mongers will love it.
I love it. Bring on the season.
