The National Weather Service in Wakefield has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Central City of Chesapeake in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Norfolk in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Portsmouth in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Virginia Beach in southeastern Virginia...

* Until 645 PM EDT.

* At 440 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges continues
  to indicate heavy rain falling, with numerous reports of flooding,
  especially across northeastern portions of the city of Virginia
  Beach. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional
  rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area.
  With high tide approaching, water may have a more difficult time
  draining.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Virginia Beach, Kempsville, Regent University, Virginia Wesleyan
  University, Norfolk State University, Great Bridge, Downtown
  Norfolk, Downtown Portsmouth, Ocean View, Old Dominion University,
  Deep Creek, Churchland, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk,
  Norfolk International, Norview, Fentress and Princess Anne.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
