DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was
located near latitude 16.2 North, longitude 40.3 West. Fiona is
moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and this
general motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected
during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with
higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is possible today,
followed by slow weakening by the weekend.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
