DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lee was
located near latitude 31.5 North, longitude 49.0 West. Lee is moving
toward the north near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn toward the
northeast with a slight decrease in forward speed is expected on
Saturday, followed by a turn toward the east and a resumption of
the current speed on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Steady strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Lee
could be near hurricane strength by the end of the weekend.

Lee is a small tropical storm. Tropical-storm-force winds extend
outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1009 mb (29.80 inches).
