DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karl was located near latitude 19.7 North, longitude 50.5 West. Karl is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue during the next day or so. A turn to the northwest is forecast to occur by late Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) north of the center.
