Re: Irma Conditions/Observations in your Area

I have been without power in the Largo/Seminole area since Sunday at 5pm. We received only 3.3 inches of rain from Irma, but the wind was the main event. I live at a higher elevation of Pinellas County just a couple miles from the coast, and we were hammered by hurricane force gusts between 10pm-1am on Sunday night/Monday morning with tropical storm force winds for an even longer duration. I estimate that we experienced speeds around 85mph, maybe slightly higher, when the wind turned northwest and came in unobstructed from the Gulf. Fortunately, the damage is relatively minor. Some trees/fences/signs down, shingles here and there, and tons of branches. A few mobile homes in the area experienced roof/siding damage and a power line came down in my neighborhood. These were some of the strongest winds I have seen in this area since the Superstorm of 93. We have definitely been lucky here.
