OMGosh! The link you posted is one for the record books! Is there any reason to wonder why people panicked?
Why a Sharpie was used? I actually have more faith in the knowledgeable folks here on this web site...Flhurricane.com /Hurricanes Without the Hype than the weather reporters. The NHC is getting very good in forecasting, but we don’t watch and listen to it hour after hour....day after day. We are transfixed to The Weather Channel, Accuweather, etc. which turns us all into nervous Nellies!

During times of hurricanes my iPad is joined to my hip with Flhurricane up and running, but my tv is tuned to the histrionics of weather reporters with mic in hand bravely confronting the wind and driving rain. I actually saw one waist deep in the coming storm surge. As the saying goes, “Ya just can’t fix stupid!”

Just received an email from my nephew in Halifax. Lots of trees down and power outages. His power was down for 24 hours and he lost parts of his chimney during the windstorm. At the time, the storm had winds of 100mph and a forward speed of 30. Basically it ran over Nova Scotia, but was moving faster so less grinding than in the Bahamas.
