But the more it rains, the less likely the district can hold water in both reservoirs, Elledge said. Doing so could flood Indian River County.

I spoke to my mom this morning in Vero and she told me that before Frances hit that the reserviors were allready extreamly high (she fishes a lot) She hasn't been out sence the storm, but I can't even begin to imagine how full they are now.

Re: S.E. Fla in the clear based upon Spagetti? [Re: Unregistered User]

South Florida is not in the clear. If it stays on the current possible track the storm is large enough that we will get tropical storm force winds and possibly hurricane force gusts. If it shifts right just a few miles we could get the right side of the storm, even if the center went up the west coast or just inland. We are far from out of it yet, and probably will not know one way or the other until Saturday.

S. Florida is not in the clear by any means, no. The Keys will likely take at least a glancing blow, and we'll know more in a day or two as to how much the region will be impacted by the storm.

Tired of hurricanes... [Re: Clark]
      #24635 - Fri Sep 10 2004 03:09 AM

I'm not sure if I speak for everyone here, but personally, I wish these hurricanes would simply take a break or something. One after the other, all getting strong, all affecting the state of Florida...it gets draining after awhile just to follow the storms, yet alone have to deal with them.

A little lighthearted humor for these storms (and for another topic that is near and dear to my mind & heart for tomorrow), thought a few of you might get a kick out of it:

http://www.northflams.org/fsumiami/

Not like the address doesn't give anything away or such...

Have a good night's rest all...think we'll need it for the days ahead.

Too add to this, I would wait until after it passes Jamaica to even consider where it may strike in the US/Florida. Right now it's still too early.

Everyone is still a little nervous from all the activity related with Charley and Frances, so the tendancy to jump the gun a bit is most definitely there. Wait a bit more on this one.

I live in Brooksville. Thinking about leaving tomorrow for TN too. Is it to early to be thinking about that? If it doesn't come this way I'll have to work on Monday. If not I can take off. I also don't want to be in an I-75 traffic jam either. What to do? What to do?

Tonight as everyone here prepares of bed say a prayer for the people of Jamaica. As tomorrow could very well be the last for some. God bless and good night.

Clark,

I agree with you. Enough is enough, and this is too much. My gut feel is that Ivan is going to come into the Keys and then turn, this is not a wishcast, actually I am hoping that if I say that it won't do that.

Got a good laugh out of the link. Of course to "get it" you have to assume that Florida = FSU, which those of us that are not FSU fans don't agree with. But then I never did get the obsession with sports, particularly football. Living about 6 blocks from the UM campus, and with my dad a UF alum, there is no way I would root for FSU anyway.

I don't think we'll have a solid general idea on where Ivan is going till tomorrow afternoon and maybe not till Saturday morning.

AL/MS border eastward needs to keep watch on this thing through the weekend! I know some of us will be distracted by football.

Yep, me too. And please, Clark, Jason, please please don't say Apalachicola any more!
(I am ready now to trade a lot in Apalach for a small concrete bunker type house in Tallahassee.... !)
I have had one foot on the island and one foot on the mainland for 4 weeks now.... and it hurts!
Seriously, the ongoing stress is getting to me; I can't even imagine how freaked out people further south must be!

To me, it looks as if the NHC is getting a good handle on Ivan.
It shifted East than West and now over Key West over Tampa Bay and in around Cedar Key.
I'm inland near Orlando so we'll get high winds and rain.
A slight jog East and I don't want to even think about it.

What is going on? Or perhaps a better question is how much more can we take?
There are beginning to be a lot of new lakes in Florida.
