My youngest woke up crying so I'm up for a quick post.

The cellphone advice is fantastic advice. If your cell is on, there is equipment that can find you. A Florida-based telecommunication company makes those devices and have rolled out crews in the past to make sweeps.

Be safe and God bless.

Actually Richie,
I took the last two fixes and crossed the Peninsula.
They crossed near the intersection of 41 and 997 just NW of West Kendall.

But that ??track?? would pass North of NHC. Oh and that's the Center of Circulation that I was refering to.

SE wind will push a very large, poorly rooted tree directly on my screened terrace for sure. The tree only puts down surface roots, (>2ft) deep, on this property. Kat took down a number of these type trees and she was almost nothing to speak of in the south FL portion of her track. Damn tree is going to open my pad up to the elements. I've no shutters...managed to get away with it for 11 years until very soon...Don't cry for me Argentina...Some variant of fig or rotten southern oak tree. Rats!

The track is definitely possible. I know that West Kendall is closer to the storm than I am, so therefore the lower pressure there. However, there are many other observing stations in the metro Miami area and West Kendall does have the lowest pressure, even though it is not necessarily any closer to Wilma than the other Miami area stations.

I don't believe so. They're not even doing hurricane coverage on TV. Just a crawl with updates and a little radar/warning map.

Tornado threat increasing [Re: mysticalmooons]
      #62758 - Mon Oct 24 2005 04:14 AM

INCREASING TORNADO THREAT FOR SOUTHEAST FLORIDA...

AT 345 AM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED SPIRAL RAINBANDS CONTINUING TO MOVE INTO SOUTHEAST FLORIDA. STRONGER WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO MIAMI-DADE AND BROWARD COUNTIES OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS AS THE EYEWALL OF HURRICANE Wilma ADVANCES INTO SOUTH FLORIDA. SUDDEN...FAST MOVING TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE PERIPHERAL RAINBANDS AS THEY MOVE INTO THE AREA. TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS WILL ALSO START OVER MIAMI-DADE...BROWARD...AND PALM BEACH COUNTIES...WITH 2-4 INCHES POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA BEFORE SUNRISE.

Cudjue Key just had 104 mph gust.

Yikes! [Re: Multi-Decadal Signal]
      #62760 - Mon Oct 24 2005 04:16 AM

Lightening woke me up, I walk outside to take a hard look, and almost walk into a tornado. I never saw it, not sure one was even there, but winds went from like 20 mph to 70 mph in seconds and was gone in 2 minutes or so. At a minimum, a downburst. Scary stuff when you can't see what's coming.

I have to say the Orlando TV stations are HORRIBLE! They are showing automobile commercials after attorney commercials after diet pill commercials instead of having community awareness to keep people informed in the general area of potential tornadic activity. Channel 13 is trying but they are covering everything in a 100 mile corridor which dilutes the coverage for the immediate Orlando area. Errr....

Hope everyone is safe!

They are but I can't get a clear stream. An intense cell over Orlando right now with some wicked lightening. I am so tired but I am terrified of tornados.
