Incipient Tropical Cyclone Invest 99L Visible image 07/21/20 1700z

A very well organized tropical low presently in the Main Development Region of the Tropical Atlantic has been tracked for several days, and as of this entry, is up to 80% NHC odds of becoming a numbered Tropical Cyclone within 48 hours, but if more robust and definitive TC genesis does not occur within the next day or two, conditions for genesis may become much less favorable later in the week and over the weekend, especially as the low traverses the often less hospitable eastern Caribbean.

Images and further data will be coming soon.

99L is now TD SEVEN and the title has been updated accordingly.
7/22/20 now Tropical Storm Gonzalo

The borderline TC being tracked as Invest 99L has continued to develop throughout the afternoon and is now confirmed as a Tropical Cyclone, TD SEVEN.

Conditions for continued development in the near term look fair, and models may be doing a below average job of estimating the potential for further strengthening. Interests in the Antilles may want to begin paying close attention to this system, as upgrades to watches and warnings may be coming soon.

The models will be much more useful once they get some good recon data coming later this week.

The remnants of Gonazlo sure have been tenacious, still watching this if something happens in the W. Carib with it.
