TD1 - Perhaps TS Arthur Soon

The pesky Gulf low that was at 26N 90W last Sunday morning finally drifted across the north Florida peninsula yesterday and became TD1 off the Carolinas this afternoon. With convection and wind field well east of the center, the cyclone seems more subtropical in nature. It will be about another 24 hours or so before it starts to lose its tropical characteristics so it has a good chance of becoming a tropical storm by morning. The Gulf Stream should help this system to develop a little more. Eventual transition to a gale center in a couple of days as it eventually heads toward Newfoundland. Recent position reports:
