Dennis (by HanKFranK)
Hurricane Dennis, after striking Cuba on July 7-8, made landfall just east of Pensacola early on this afternoon in 2005. This was the earliest a major hurricane had hit the U.S. since Audrey in 1957. Dennis had been a category 4 during the morning, but thankfully weakened to a 3 prior to coming ashore. Damage was moderate.
