Epsilon (by Clark) On this date in 2005, the season's final named system, Epsilon, dissipated over open water in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean. Epsilon was only the 6th recorded hurricane in the basin and set a new record for duration as a hurricane (5 days) during December. Epsilon was the 29th classified disturbance, 26th named storm, and 14th (operationally; possibly 15 after post-analysis is completed) hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, all new records for this basin. While not a particularly memorable storm in its own right, Epsilon will be remembered as the last storm of the most significant tropical season in recorded history in our basin.
