DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Nigel was located near latitude 22.0 North, longitude 48.0 West. Nigel is moving toward the northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue for the next few days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Nigel is expected to become a hurricane on Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
