DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 12.9 North, longitude 37.3 West. Leslie is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Small intensity fluctuations are possible today, but weakening is forecast to begin on Monday and continue through midweek. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km).
