AT 2 AM EDT...0600Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM CHARLEY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 39.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 73.8 WEST OR ABOUT 40 MILES EAST OF ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY. THIS IS ALSO ABOUT 255 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MONTAUK POINT ON THE EASTERN TIP OF LONG ISLAND. CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST NEAR 35 MPH...AND THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THIS MOTION SHOULD BRING THE CENTER OF CHARLEY NEAR SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND LATER THIS MORNING. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 40 MPH...WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH.
