A HURRICANE WARNING MEANS THAT HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED IN THE WARNING AREA DURING THE NEXT 24 HR. SINCE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PRECISELY PREDICT THE PATH AND INTENSITY OF A TROPICAL CYCLONE...PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WARNING AREA. AT 2 AM EDT...0600Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM GASTON WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 32.1 NORTH...LONGITUDE 79.4 WEST OR ABOUT 65 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA. GASTON IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 5 MPH. A TURN TOWARD THE NORTH IS EXPECTED IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THE CENTER OF GASTON IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE SOUTH CAROLINA COASTLINE SOMETIME THIS AFTERNOON. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 65 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
