DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Claudette was
located near latitude 38.1 North, longitude 66.9 West. Claudette is
moving toward the northeast near 17 mph (28 km/h. A northeastward
to north-northeastward motion with some increase in forward speed is
expected during the next day or two. On the forecast track, the
center will move southeast of Nova Scotia during the next 24 to 36
hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.
Weakening is forecast to begin by Tuesday morning, and Claudette is
forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone by Tuesday night, and to
dissipate on Wednesday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
