DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Claudette
was located near latitude 41.4 North, longitude 61.3 West. Claudette
is moving toward the northeast near 21 mph (33 km/h). A turn
toward the north-northeast with some further increase in forward
speed is expected through Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with
higher gusts. Additional weakening is likely, and Claudette is
expected to become a post-tropical cyclone tonight. Dissipation is
forecast on Wednesday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
