DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Danny was located near latitude 15.8 North, longitude 57.3 West. Danny is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h), and a westward to west-northwestward motion is expected over the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, the center will move near or over portions of the Leeward Islands late tonight or early Monday. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- WIND: Tropical-storm-force winds are expected within portions of the warning area by late tonight. RAINFALL: Danny is expected to produce 2 to 4 inches of rain over the Leeward Islands, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico through Tuesday.
