At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Fred was
located near latitude 23.8 North, longitude 42.5 West. Fred is
moving toward the northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h), but a turn to the
north is expected on Sunday. The depression should recurve on
Monday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/h) with
higher gusts. No significant change in strength is forecast during
the next 48 hours.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb (29.77 inches).
