DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Ida was
located near latitude 20.4 North, longitude 47.2 West. Ida has
been meandering for the past 12 hours or so but has generally
been moving toward the south near 2 mph (4 km/h). A slow eastward
motion is expected later today, followed by a turn toward the north
on Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Little change in strength is forecast through Thursday night.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km)
mainly to the east of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
