At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gaston was
located near latitude 23.9 North, longitude 47.6 West. Gaston is
moving toward the northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h), and this
general heading with a decrease in forward speed is expected during
the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher
gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and
Gaston could reintensify to a hurricane by tonight or on Saturday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).
