At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karl was
located near latitude 18.2 North, longitude 47.7 West. Karl is
moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h). A turn toward the
west-northwest at a similar forward speed is expected later today
or on Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher
gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km)
to the north of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
