DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Nicole was located near latitude 27.5 North, longitude 65.3 West. Nicole is stationary, but is expected to begin a slow southward or south- southeastward motion later today and continue on Saturday. A westward drift could begin by early Sunday. Maximum sustained winds have rapidly decreased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is likely during the next couple of days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 985 mb (29.09 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells associated with Nicole, along with rough surf conditions, should continue to affect Bermuda for the next few days.
