DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Rina was located near latitude 37.1 North, longitude 48.4 West. Rina is moving toward the north near 20 mph (31 km/h). A turn toward the north-northeast is expected by this afternoon, followed by a rapid northeastward motion on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds have increased near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast through tonight before weakening begins on Thursday. Rina is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone by tonight or early Thursday morning. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles (260 km) from the center.
