In the central Mediterranean Sea a rare subtropical storm (with a distinct eye) is located south of Sicily moving westward toward Malta.

ADDED: At 07/1545Z Luqa reported a wind gust to 49mph.
ADDED: At 07/1615Z Luga reported a wind gust to 64mph with SLP at 986MB.
ADDED: At about 07/1610Z the wind went Calm on the webcam site - at least a portion of Malta is in the 'eye'.
ADDED: At 07/1634Z the wind at Luqa was gusting to 36mph with a SLP of 984MB. Pressure dropped from 29.56 to 29.06" in 4 hours. Webcam site no longer useful (nightfall).
