A weak and sloppy tropical wave located south of the Cape Verde islands is being tracked as Invest 96L.

So far, 96L has had some intermittent, disorganized showers and an occasional thunderstorm. Maximum sustained winds are mostly in the 10-15 MPH range, and the minimum barometric pressure is estimated to be 1010mb, at best.

Invest 96L is following several hundred miles behind 94L, and moving west at about 15-20 MPH.

This wave is in an environment of low shear and moderate to high atmospheric water vapor, and with SSTs virtually all across the Atlantic between the equator and about 30N now supportive, 96L has a chance to develop.

(Title changed to reflect system upgrade.)
