While the Atlantic is completely devoid of any tropical activity, the W. Pacific seems to be in a period of increased activity. Five systems have formed in June, with four of them reaching typhoon status and Tingting expected to reach CAT 4 strength. The Pacific is rarely so active this early in the season.

Typhoon Mindulle is now forecasted to reach 155kts, approximately the strength of STY Dianmu a few weeks ago.

I don't remember the last time that the W. Pacific was this active so early in the season. This would make Mindulle the 3rd CAT 5 in 2 months. Amazing!
