To the south...
      #36078 - Fri Jun 03 2005 07:28 PM

Quite a few thunderstorms down to our south today in the NW Caribbean, raising a lot of eyebrows today. As Clark as outlined very well in the talkbacks, this really isn't something to get too hyped up about at this point...the structure of this is not really tropical in nature, as it is attached to a mid-level trough, and there is a lot of upper-level shear to the north of this system as well. It will certainly be a rainmaker for Florida, but it is not likely to pose an organized tropical weather threat unless it can detach from the base of the trough and make the transition to a tropical structure. We'll keep watching just in case.
