help with trcking

I wonder if any of you good people could help me with something? I have printed a map for tracking the hurricanes/storms etc for 2005,i am a little confused as to the lat. and long. for example...Emily on the 10th of July was 10.8n and 42.9w. Then on the 11th July she was 11.3n and 47.0w. I put all the co-ordinates in and all i got was a few little boxes in pencil!

Obviously i'm doing something wrong...shouldnt i have a straight track from n and varying w? Sorry if i seem a bit of a dunce, but i'm really really new to this!
Id appreciate any help. Thanks

Thanks very much Tasmanian93 for the links...I think i get the idea, i was drawing a new line for every pair of co-ordinates instead of making "ups and downs" in my tracking line. Oh well, have to keep practising i s'pose, i'll get there! Once again thanks.

This is a nice little doohickey on the site. It uses Google's map service to chart the movement of storms.
