The 5-letter typhoons in the Western Pacific have been very nasty ones (Man-yi, Usagi, Pabuk, Sepat, Fitow, Wipha) and Typhoon Krosa figures to add to the list. It is currently at around 20/126 (about 450 miles SE of the northern end of Taiwan) moving slowly northwest. Winds are at 115 kt, but it is looking better all the time on satellite and intensification to super typhoon status seems quite possible. Current projected track takes the storm near or over extreme northern Taiwan in just under 72 hours, then possibly near the coast of eastern China (very close to where Wipha moved inland) a couple days beyond that.
