2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season Begins June 1st
      #90119 - Sat Jan 01 2011 08:17 AM

This year is set up to be less active (as for the number of storms) than 2010, but chances may be higher for more impacts along the US, although not terribly so.

The site has a few new things coming in 2011, but much of the core data will remain the same.

I hope this is Not a precursor of the 2011 season.
It's a gyre located off of the Tampico,MX coast near the NW Bay of Campeche.

For anyone that lives in the Maryland area, just posted on my local NOAA NWS office site that the Hurricane Hunters are going to be open for public tours on May 3rd at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station:

Looking forward to tracking more storms in a couple months!

It looks like the NAM is gearing up for the tropical season. Take a look at 72 hours out from this evening's 00Z run. I think the model is jumping the gun a bit on this one.

That one is just too early, at most a weak inverted surface trough that brings increases rain chances a little in Florida by the end of the week.
