A strong convective burst is noted in the central Gulf of Mexico along an upper level trough. A weak surface reflection is also noted near 24N 89W at 01/04Z. System is moving eastward and will provide unsettled weather conditions over the eastern GOM and the Florida peninsula for the remainder of the week. Currently this is a non-tropical system and expected to remain non-tropical. A weak surface low is expected to move toward the southwest coast of the Florida peninsula later in the week.

MASSIVE CLOUD FIELD CURRENTLY OVER THE EASTERN GOFMEX ASSOCIATED
WITH LARGE CONVECTIVE COMPLEX ROTATING BENEATH CUT-OFF LOW WHICH
IS OVER THE SOUTH CENTRAL GULF STATES. THIS LINE OF CONVECTION
HAS BEEN PRODUCING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF LIGHTNING WITH NEARLY 800
STRIKES IN THE PAST 15 MINUTES. THE CONVECTIVE FIELD IS MOVING
EAST..."
The strong MCC will bring frequent squalls to the southwestern Florida coast Wednesday.
