A large, broad area of low pressure associated with a stout tropical wave over the far eastern Atlantic is expected to become a TD or named storm at any time today, and we are now starting a lounge on this system, tagged Invest 90L.

Invest 90L is already so well put together, with very conducive conditions ahead for mostly persistent and even Rapid Intensification, that despite the possibility it recurves northward prior to causing concern for those in the western Atl, early indications are that portions of the Cabo Verdes, and later on the Azores in particular, could be looking at a very intense tropical cyclone, *if* it does recurve.

Edited to reflect timely, recent model runs that now suggest stronger than initially projected high pressure could send 90L much further west, putting the western Atlantic very much in play late next week.

The next name on the list in the Atlantic is Lorenzo.

90L is now a tropical cyclone and the title is being updated accordingly.

Advisories are about to begin on TD THIRTEEN shortly. There has been a trend since earlier today to take THIRTEEN (and later Lorenzo) north again. Timing and strength of the high to its north will be pivotal. The expected weakness may not persist, which could send the cyclone further west. This will hopefully be teased out in the next one or two days.

Fully vaccinated as of May 2021
