Red, I am so sorry, I hope you don't take offense to me wanting the video and pictures. I do take these storms very seriously and I will have to admit I was very scared during Charley. I literally placed myself in the bathroom moments before the eye came over because the sounds in the air were frightening. I feel badly for everyone who has lost everything with any or all of these storms.

I have lurked on here and really enjoy all the facts and ideas that everyone has. It is refreshing to talk "weather" with others who are interested in it.

I do hope I didn't offend you by my words earlier. And, I am happy that I didn't scare you too!!

Katie

NHC Outlook [Re: LI Phil]
      #33304 - Wed Sep 29 2004 02:32 PM

Hello LI Phil:

Any potential area of concern out there? It seems NHC is giving us all a breather!

It seems there is still an area of concern west of the CV islands as well as in the gulf? Comments anyone?

rmbjoe,

I'm actually trying to get a little real work done, so I'll let JB do the talking for me:

"With Jeanne out of the way, and Lisa heading northward, it means the only game in town over the next several days is the southwest Caribbean. However, it does appear that weak waves are coming west off Africa. And while far eastern Atlantic development is not likely now, those waves, given the warm water from east of the islands, through the southern and western Caribbean and into the Gulf, mean a natural suspicion area is there. The southwest Caribbean will continue to load up over the next several days and it will be interesting to see if low pressure develops on the Caribbean side of the Yucatan by Friday."

Should be quiet till then...

SecondShift,

There are ways to help...and they don't have to be financial. Check out http://floridadisaster.org/.

Prayers help too

My rain guage topped out at about 8 inches fell asleep and couldn't empty it. The highest wind was 35 mph and some lighting and thunder. Some partially melted hail but not really anything life threatening just something to have fun watching! My whole street was like a pond , it just so happens my neighboor didn't clean his sewage drain out (leaves clogged) I had to walk to school today because we couldn't get the car out of my driveway. This day stinks!

Keith, lets try to avoid the use of derogatory terms about your neighbor.

welcome aboard! Your prayers are very much appreciated. I am a newbie here and most of the time I just read all the valuable info these guys have to offer. I have learned so much just by reading and I feel without the knowledgable info I have been able to find here I probably would not have been as well prepared as I should be for both Frances and Jeanne. I kinda knew what to expect and that was a comfort in itself

Any guesses on what this shows by LA on days 6-7...tropical or just a regular low?

Wouldn't say that either, getting my new roof put on. The noise is unbearable!

re ways to help... our local blood center (not a Red Cross one) sent bags of blood to Alabama because they were low. They said they'd send more if they had more to spare... so ... that might be something to do. Ask you local blood center.

eep!

After we had a downburst (80 mph+ wind) w/ hail go thru here in '02 ... I spent months listening to people all over our neighborhood getting their roofs and fences replaced. 7 am to dark... every day. Thought I'd lose my mind! And the chainsaws cutting up all the fallen trees! Ick.

We didn't lose power during that - but we lost power in intervals all night as they turned off the grid to add people back on...

I was out driving in it... thought it was a tornado. Long story, wrong forum

But not meaning to go OT... I sure feel for anyone dealing with the aftermath of Jeanne and her older siblings...

That ULL is backing SW into that general area (Caribbean). That should pull out that cloud/rain swirl into a favorable area of development. It will be a couple days before anything significant happens though.... Also the african wave might make it to the leeward islands; squeeze one last system out of the CV area, that might have a chance of developing too but again later not now. I heard JB metion some artic air coming down, and the possibilty of it tapping into a cold pool of artic air. Already, wow this is going to be some winter.

Anything that develops in the Caribbean will move NW into the Gulf then into Mexico
