Hurricane Joan
      #34028 - Thu Oct 21 2004 06:48 AM

Does anyone know where to find satellite images of Hurricane Joan, if there are any to be found? It happened about a month after Hurricane Gilbert, but while there lots of images of him, I can't seem to find any on Joan. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Back then when Gilbert was around only primitive cauclulations were used to to figure out how the satellite would move, therefore they were polar orbiting and were only in one spot for a given time. It just may happen that Gilbert formed and lived when the satellite was in the correct position to see it, and the next hurricane that formed the satellite wasn't in the correct position. There is some mathematics behind this...but then again I'm not a rocket scientist

Oh, thanks Keith. That would probably explain why there don't seem to be images. Thanks again for clearing that up.

Cool! Thanks Floydbuster! That's the only image of Joan I've ever seen.
