Does anyone know where I can download the video file for the STS-114 launch, all I can find is streaming video.

Try this: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/custom/space/sfl-725shuttlelaunch,0,1726206.realvideo?coll=orl-home-headlines

It's a Real Player file, which I can't open...but I imagine there's probably a way to save the video once it loads.

Just FYI, you can watch the Nasa TV live. pretty interesting.

www.nasa.gov and then you will want to go to NASA TV. I have found that the Yahoo link is better than the real player

Thanks for your help guys, but all those pages contain streaming video. I am looking to download the actual video files to my hard drive. All the video there is being streamed from NASA's servers and I have no way to capture from their server.

i can't believe more debris fell off the shuttle at lift off..this is wat doomed Columbia.the last thing NASA needs is to ditch this shuttle and send a rescue missin..they on have one mroe shuttle besides descovery..that is Endeveator or something like that..lol

well, NASA has to think up some new Methods..i mean come on

NASA has two other shuttles, Atlantis and Endeavour.

Jamie -- perhaps you might try contacting the local news stations? Many of them probably have video of the launch, whether on their website or not, and might be able to help you out. Sorry the other link didn't help; without RealPlayer, I couldn't check for certain.

Thanks Clark, I appreciate it. NASA used to have the actual video files available for download on the KSC website, I still have the videos from the Columbia mission when it took off, and a few others before that. But with STS-114 everyone is keeping their video on their servers and just streaming it out. Since my first post on this thread I have tried a few programs that are supposed to capture streaming video, but they either capture it badly or don't work at all. Thing with all this streaming stuff is that once they take it off their servers it's gone and you can't watch it again, thats why I like to download. I am looking for Torrents as well that may have the files, but it will probably take people a while to get them up. If I find something I post here with the info, there's probably other people looking for files as well, but thanks again for everyones assistance.

This is what I found via Googling around:

Short time-lapse of launch:
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/media/quicktime/2005-07/18660156.mov

External tank camera of launch, 14MB:
http://www.eclipticenterprises.com/video/sts-114-qt-hi.mov

This one comes up with a full video of the launch, but I haven't figured out a way to save it:
http://www.wvec.com/cgi-bin/bi/video/makeadplaylist.pl?title=www.wvec.com/072605launch.wmv

Seems like the best option might be just to cough up the $8 for a monthly sub to get the SpaceFlight QT videos at
