With TD#12/Katrina is trying out a few new features with maps. What do you like, what do you think is missing, what don't you like. About any of the maps around this site.
Especially the new track map now on the main page.

They are very well designed and easy to read. Very professional looking. I can't say I can think of anything really needed right now.

Thanks all for you kind comments. All we have learned about these systems while developing our maps has come from these forums and from the assistance of several meteorologists around the nation.
Many of you may have noticed that our forecast track maps now include the true windfield radii with the forecast plots. We have provided the image below to aid in understanding what these "rings" mean.
According to the National Hurricane Center, an average 75% of the total tropical storm/hurricane is in the northeast quadrant of any given storm. As you view these maps, and the model/track maps provided by the U.S. Navy, you will see that a large portion of the storm is indeed offset to the northeast quadrant as evidenced by the windfield radii drawn on each map. The wind radii depicted in our maps is created using official data provided by the National Hurricane Center.
Please feel free to PM me, or better yet, any professional Meteorologist on this board with questions about the windfields. If I don't have the answer, I'm going to ask one of them anyhow ;-)
Enjoy. We hope you find these maps useful.

I miss the ones posted last summer that had the conical 3D shape applied to regions in finer detail.

Like your new maps.
Have 2 suggestions.
Please don't forget to do some of the "cone" maps as you did last year.
And, with coming ashore in southeastern Florida (??) why do we have a map all the way up to SC/southern GA? We could have a little more detail if the maps zeroed in on the forecast area more.

Zoomed landfall maps can be found at SkeetobiteWeather.com and have not yet been made available for use by forum administrators.
The addition of the windfields to these maps was designed to replace the 3D cone affect from last year. Although it is a popular feature, many more asked that it be removed than asked that it stay... Personally, I loved it.

Keep em coming . All have been helpful - I particularly liked the detailed maps of '04 storms with street level detail of wind fields and found them to be very accurate to conditions here on east coast of central fla. New spaghetti maps are helpful particularly with TD's where NOAA/NHC have yet to publish storm tracks

I don't know if it was intended, but there seems to be something missing.
I usually locate myself by using Lake Okeechobee
