Sorry if this has already been posted...
Corpus Christi (Nueces County) is now under a mandatory evacuation...
I also heard on the news that Cameron Parish in Louisiana is under a mandatory evacuation, but I can't find anything definitive....
That makes every major metro area in the watch area, with the exception of the Beaumont/Port Arthur area, which is still under a voluntary evacuation only....

Cameron Parish is under a mandatory evacuation; there is information about it on both the NOLA.com and WWL-TV blogs. Other areas in SW Louisiana are under voluntary evacuations south of I-10 or are at least encouraging those south of the interstate to move northward until the storm passes.

Cameron Parish isn't under Mandatory Evac yet but taken from our local News Station, KATC - Lafayette, La, it says:
Edited to add: Strange that the Lafayette News website isn't listing Cameron as Mandatory Evac. They may not have updated their site.
Quote:
The 97-hundred residents of Cameron Parish, in Louisiana's southwest corner, were told today to leave.
Hurricane is moving west in the Gulf of Mexico and Cameron Parish is in the cone of danger.
Freddie Richard, emergency director for the parish, say they're not worried about a direct hit, but the water to be pushed ahead of the storm.
He says forecasts are for a four- to six-foot storm surge and up to five inches of rain.
As stated below from KATC News in Lafayette, they are recommending that Calcasieu Parish evacuate as well.
Quote:
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - As Hurricane continues to move west in the Gulf of Mexico, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has called for a recommended evacuation of storm surge impact areas.
That's areas in southern Calcasieu Parish that are at an elevation of eight feet or below to be prepared for a six-to-eight foot storm surge.
This would include areas along the Calcasieu Ship Channel, Sabine River and any tributaries of these river systems.
A specific area of concern would be the Deatonville area and any other areas that experienced flooding during Tropical Storm in 1998.
Governor Kathleen Blanco is expected in Lake Charles this afternoon and meet with the Office of Emergency Preparedness.

The eyewall drop recorded 850mb winds of 186 knots. Impressive. That does correspond to around 150 knots at the surface. It'll be interesting to see what they find in the other quadrants.

From the recon:
"FREQUENT LIGHTNING
MODERATE TURBULENCE IN EYEWALL
EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE STADIUM EFFECT IN MOONLIGHT"
Gee do you think they'll be able to get a photo of that?
Pressure holding, temp diff at 19 deg, the diameter of the eye at 16nm.
Seems like she's gone steady state, but before sat blackout, cloud tops were getting cooler, and the lightning would indicate convection, so could she still be strengthening?
