Well, I hope where ever Johnny Mellonhead is, he is in a safe place...
Heads up on something if your cell phones and house phones are both down...if you have a cb radio in your car (after things calm down) you can try to reach a trucker if you need to let someone know you are safe. My husband reached someone after Francis last year to call me in Tampa to let me know he was okay. That was the only contact I had with my husband for three days...
Weather is still very calm here, just waiting for the shoe to drop. Next door neighbors thought we were stupid putting our shutters up, but with all this anticipated tornadic activity, and all the half finished construction going on around us, prolly a good thing in case we get pelted. And, an interesting note...immediately after my husband put up the plywood, some bees found a hole and started building a nest in the window. We can see them thru the tinted glass in the room...there must be 500 bees sitting in there, waiting for the storm. Guess mother nature knows sumpin' huh...
We have excellent, wall to wall coverage on WPTV in West Palm Channel 5. They are great guys. They cover every blip on the radar. You should call that station in Orlando and complain.

My anemometer is well secured. I also made my coffee about an hour ago before the power would go out. I have battery backup for the weather station so I won't lose the data, but I may not be able to post it to the internet for days/weeks. I am a severe storm spotter and will call it in to the weather service.
Winds up again, 125!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots and lots or tonadic activity all over the area.. I see another supercell just west of Melbourne heading up towards St. Cloud towards the airport. Some really dangerous high winds in the cluster.

Stupid storm got me out of bed. sure is getting nasty and looks like she has about 1-2 hours to get nastier.
I do hope we don't see the last record to fall; a Christmas storm landfalling in the U.S.
That would probably make me move out of Florida.

Don't know if HF is lurking this morning but....Hank, I'd love to hear your (or any other MET/MOD for that matter) in regards to the possible merging of & Alpha and what that might mean for the NE.

OK...here's what I want to know...who is in charge at the various TV stations for inputting the information that shows up on the crawler at the bottom? Is it really necessary to let us all know that the Boca Raton Town Centre Mall is closed today! No Kidding Captain Obvious! How about some more appropriate information.

Just an observation but I don't think little "Alpha" is going to make any difference at all. The system is just swalling it up and absorbing it.
There were a few small storms that were named this season when perhaps they shouldn't have been and Alpha is one of them.
5a.m. conditions in the Orlando area are of course rainy with light winds and some tornado warnings in the area.
