People will SO want to be moving there...homeowners insurance is going down the tubes, damage from won't be cleaned up before the coming hurricane season, there may still be people in FEMA trailers from the 2004 hurricane season, and, according to CNN, today a plane crashed on a Ft Lauderdale freeway, and two more people were killed by aligators (so THAT's why you've got all those little canals running everywhere throughout the area, very forward-thinking).
You know, the first year I lived in San Diego, my cat was eaten by coyotes, a wildfire came within throwing distance of the house we were renting, there were mudslides, I got to experience earthquakes, what a thrill. And I'm sure there's something else I can't remember and am leaving out. But the Miami area is definitely giving them a run for their money.

I just found out that south FL is also home, charmingly, to large lizards, called monitor lizards, and that in fact one was just caught that was six feet long.
I am just going to have to start thinking of south Florida as a nature-lovers paradise, I guess. Or should I wait for the news articles about giant spiders?

I've been watching this eagle cam nightly, and right at the moment it is close to sunset in Vancouver, BC, and the sun is shining on the nest -- very beautiful. You've gotta check this out. Even the way these eaglets poop is cute!

The difference between a romantic candle light dinner in New York and a Florida hurricane evening:The meat and vegetables are both cooked on a grill, the candles are softening the light in each case, but the beer in Florida is hot, lost its fizz and the mosquitos are drunker than you are.
